“To Say Nothing is to be Complicit”

Years ago, when I gave my life to Christ, I came to understand I must surrender all my personal rights and entitlements if I were to become a sincere follower of Jesus. This would be especially true when it came to the welfare of others. I knew God was calling me to stop being self-orientated, demanding personal rights and entitlements so that my life might emulate the attitude and character of Jesus. The Apostle Paul said this best when he wrote to the Church in Philippi saying: “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus…”  When I received the calling to become a Christian pastor this became the Gospel I would dedicate my life to preach.
